Member Training Opportunities
We have training for every member no matter your background, expertise or passion.
2026/2027 Season Training (from Sept 2026)
We have training for every level, from beginner to advanced.
Structured sessions for beginners and advanced members are run by our volunteer coaches, alongside casual training for those who prefer a more relaxed approach.
You'll also find plenty of ad hoc training happening, as members meet each other and organise their own sessions.
Water training is available for everyone with an SRC qualification and above. Sand training is for all members!
Meet at Shelly Beach, ready to start at 7.30am. Bring your own board or ski, or borrow one from the club if you don't have your own gear yet.
Coached by Kevin with support from Dan & Jacqui, these sessions can be adapted so everyone works at their own level.
Whether you're new to ski or board, chasing fitness, or an experienced paddler after a solid session, there's something in it for you. No pressure, just come along, meet the group, and see what's on.
1 to 1.5 hours. You'll need a pinkie, available from the Uniform Shop. Training is always on unless advised otherwise in our internal Senior Training Messenger chat.
Meet at Shelly Beach, ready to start at 9.00am. Bring your own board, or borrow one from the club if you don't have your own gear yet.
Coached by Jacqui and Kevin, these sessions are about building our Nippers confidence ahead of the season starting and especially those who are heading to the Forster Carnival over the October long weekend.
1 to 1.5 hours. You'll need a pinkie, available from the Uniform Shop. Training is always on unless advised otherwise.
Meet at Shelly Beach, 8am, working with the surf and conditions on the day. Training covers Irons and craft disciplines, think swim, board, ski and run, depending on who's there and what the surf's doing.
Coached by Kevin with support from Hullsy, Dan & Jacqui, these sessions can be adapted so everyone works at their own level.
This session is for SRC and above.

Meet at Shelly Beach, 4pm on Wednesday, coached by Dave Smith. The session starts with a light warm up, progressing to focus on the Beach Flags event.
This training is for all financial members, U12 through to Opens and Masters. Come along and enjoy our amazing beach as a team. Dave will tailor the session for you!
Just bring running shoes and a water bottle.
Meet at Shelly Beach, 4pm on Friday, coached by Dave Smith. The session starts with a light warm up, progressing to focus on the Beach Sprint event.
This training is for all financial members, U12 through to Opens and Masters. Come along and enjoy our amazing beach as a team. Dave will tailor the session for you!

Surf Life Saving is a great activity for growing a child’s confidence, knowledge and skills in the beach environment. Not only will your child have fun and meet new friends, they will become part of an iconic organisation that has served the Australian community for over 100 years.

Surf Sports
Surf sports are a great way to not only improve your lifesaving skills but also to actively participate in a healthy lifestyle.Each season there is an opportunity for our members to participate at a club, branch, state, national and at international level.Athletes can compete in a full range of beach and surf, pool rescue, surf boats, and surf board riding events. -
Nipper Parents
As a parent there are various roles in which you are able to encourage and assist your child within Shelly Beach Nipper program.

Surf Education
Our education program extends to all members through engaging and practical courses to become qualified lifesavers. Our goal is to build the capacity of our members enhancing the skills in all lifesaving activities. We offer a pathway to all areas of Surf Life Saving.

We have a strong Surf Sports program which caters for all ranges of abilities and expertise delivered by our expert coaching team who have over 50 year's combined experience.
