Lifesaving

Shelly Beach SLSC has been serving the community since 1955 with volunteer patrols between October and April each season. Our patrol teams are comprised of dedicated members who have a variety of qualifications such as aquatic rescue, first aid, spinal management and CPR.

Surf Sports
Surf sports are a great way to not only improve your lifesaving skills but also to actively participate in a healthy lifestyle.
Each season there is an opportunity for our members to participate at a club, branch, state, national and at international level.
Athletes can compete in a full range of beach and surf, pool rescue, surf boats, and surf board riding events.

Our SRC and Bronze Medallion awards are at the core of our lifesaving operations and service. Holding these awards enable you to perform rescues on patrol and participate in Surf Sports.

Competitions

Our members participate in various levels of competitions from local to national and international championships.

Bronze Holders

This role is the back bone of our patrol teams with members highly trained in aquatic rescue. Holders of this award can rescue patients  utilising an array of specialised rescue equipment.

First Aiders

Holders of this award are vital to the patrol team and community, rendering trained assistance on the beach and surrounding areas.

Patrol Captains

This role coordinates and manages the patrol team. These members have specialist training to manage emergency incidents.

Junior Surf Sports

Our Junior Surf Sports program is designed to develop Nipper’s skills and confidence in the surf. These skills are then tested at regular Surf Sports carnivals held throughout the season.

Rookie Program

Our Rookie Program is aimed at our U13s to U14s members to provide them with leadership opportunities and prepare them to become full patrolling members at the age of 15.

Nipper Education

Our Nipper program provides the foundation for all our junior members to develop crucial water and beach safety skills. As they progress through the age groups, the skills and knowledge learnt are consistently built upon so that they can look after themselves and help others in dangers in around the coastline.

Youth

As a transition into Open competitions our U14 and U15 members compete in the youth division. This division was created to enable coaches to tailor the needs and develop of these members and to provide a safe sporting environment whilst at carnivals.

Opens

Our Open division comprises of U17, U19 and Open members. In this division all age groups can compete across all disciplines. Our members compete regularly throughout summer at various local carnivals and also represent us at major interstate, national and international championships each season.

Masters

This division is divided into 5years age groups from O30s to O85s. In Masters the emphasis is about team and achieving your personal bests. With life taking over most of your time Shelly Beach masters provides you with a fun and supportive environment to keep you fit, healthy and felling young.
