Member Training Opportunities
We have training for every member no matter your background, expertise or passion.
Winter 2026 Training
We have training for every level, from beginner to advanced.
Structured sessions for beginners and advanced members are run by our volunteer coaches, alongside casual training for those who prefer a more relaxed approach.
You'll also find plenty of ad hoc training happening, as members meet each other and organise their own sessions.
Water training is available for everyone with an SRC qualification and above. Sand training is for all members!
Meet at the North Entrance car park and head up and down the lake as a group. Bring your own board or ski, or borrow one from the club if you don't have your own gear yet.
Coached by Jacqui and Kevin, sessions are built around whoever shows up on the day. Sometimes it's about building endurance over a longer paddle, other times it's sharpening technique, either way everyone works at their own level.
Whether you're new to ski or board, chasing fitness, or an experienced paddler after a solid session, there's something in it for you. No pressure, just come along, meet the group, and see what's on.
1 to 1.5 hours. You'll need a pinkie, available from the Uniform Shop. Training is always on, only ever cancelled in the event of lightning.
Meet at Shelly Beach, 8am, working with the surf and conditions on the day. Training covers Irons and craft disciplines, think swim, board, ski and run, depending on who's there and what the surf's doing.
Jacqui coaches this session, with assistance from other coaches when available. As with Saturday, sessions are shaped around who turns up, so the focus and intensity varies depending on the group and conditions.
This session is for SRC and above.
1 to 1.5 hours. You'll need a pinkie, available from the Uniform Shop. Training is always on, only ever cancelled in the event of lightning.
Meet at Shelly Beach, 4pm on Wednesdays, coached by Dave Smith. Starts with light warm ups and calisthenics, then moves into beach training and sprint work, covering sand sports skills like flags and relays.
This training is for all financial members. You do not need to have a qualification to join this training. It's for everyone from U6-U14 nippers (and their parent members!), through to Opens and Masters. Come along and enjoy our amazing beach as a team. Dave will tailor the session for you!
Just bring running shoes and a water bottle.
