Shelly Beach Craft Schemes
The Club may operate a craft scheme for Club fibreglass boards, mals and skis. The Scheme is not available for foam boards. The scheme takes two forms defined as “joint ownership” and “surf craft hire”. Members taking advantage of one of the schemes are defined as “participants” for the purposes of this clause. The Executive may operate neither, one or both schemes in any particular season. The schemes are outlined as follows:
Joint Ownership – Under the scheme, surf craft are purchased jointly by the Participant and the Club. The Club will own 51% of the surf craft and retains overall control. The participant will own the remaining 49%. The Club may also charge a bond and a fee for the season at its discretion. The Executive may insist on the sale of the craft at any time. The Shelly Beach SLSC has first right of refusal on the sale. It is the responsibility of the member to sell the craft and pay 51% of the final sale price to the club. The final sale price is to be determined by joint agreement between the Board & Ski Captain and the member.
Surf Craft Hire – Under the scheme, boards are lent out for the whole season on payment of a Fee to be determined by the Executive and may be kept by the member off premises. The Fee covers the period from 1st May to the final surf lifesaving event of the year (Typically Australian Titles). The Executive may insist on the early return of the craft. It is the decision of the Board and Ski Captain whether to consider an application to join the board scheme. If a member’s application has been denied by the Board & Ski Captain the member may ask for this decision to be reviewed by the Shelly Beach SLSC Board of Management. Terms common to both schemes:
- Member must be suitably proficient relevant to age and surf craft used
- A member will only compete for Shelly Beach SLSC
- Member is responsible for all craft damage
- Member must pay a bond and surf craft use fee as determined by the Executive prior to the surf craft loan
